The team at YAMAHA WORLD ADVENTURE have 16 years experience renting the XT660Z, XT660R and the XT1200 Super Tenere in Southern Africa, from our base in Cape Town, South Africa.
With the launch of the Tenere 700, we continue renting the latest 2024 models and have grown the fleet of T 700's to 10 bikes (and counting). We will ensure that you enjoy the ultimate Yamaha Southern African Experience!
We are currently offering 10 different Tenere 700 tours in 12 Countries around the world.
Our tours are available in two formats; Guided and Self-Guided in certain countries:
Guided - led by an experienced motorcycle guide, support vehicle, trailer and luggage box. Includes comprehensive travel arrangements.
Self-Guided - supported by a pre-programmed GPS, with all travel arrangements taken care of the - route, accommodation and meals etc.
Tours in NAMIBIA and our Cape Town to Victoria Falls tours, journey through very remote areas, in countries with little infrastructure, guided and vehicle-supported group tours are advisable. If you choose to do the route self-guided, please remember that for us to recover a damaged motorcycle can cost upwards of ZAR20 000, so if you are a group of 6 or more riders, you might want to consider taking a support vehicle and trailer.
In South Africa, we offer Self-guided tours and Daily rentals
We can create fully customised routes, for individuals and groups of any skill level. We provide full support with rental Tenere 700s, 4x4 support vehicles, bike trailers and drivers, route planning, accommodation bookings and organised recreational activities.

Off-Road Tyres: Our fleet of motorcycles is fitted with standard 50/50 Dualsport tyres, mainly Dunlop Trailmax and Mitas EO7.
If you prefer more aggressive full off-road tyres, we charge a standard rate of ZAR250 per day for Metzeler Karoo 4 or MITAS EO9 tyres.
Puncture prevention slime is inserted into our heavy duty inner tubes to minimize punctures.
Puncture kits , spare tubes and air-bombs are supplied.
ALL bikes used on gravel roads incur a fee of ZAR450 for cleaning.
Max 300km free per day for rentals less than 7 days (ZAR6.50/km per)

Riders will traverse the historic ox wagon trails of the Western and Eastern Cape and Garden Route, journeying from the pulsing city of Cape Town to the rugged Kouga Mountains of the Baviaanskloof and a Big Game experience at Addo Elephant Park. This epic adventure unfolds along winding gravel roads and tracks, passing through the dramatic mountain passes of the Karoo and the striking rock formations of the Cederberg.

Riding a Yamaha Tenere 700 from Cape Town to Windhoek is an unforgettable adventure, blending diverse landscapes and challenging terrains.
Kicking off in the vibrant city of Cape Town, the journey leads you through the rugged Cederberg Mountains, where sharp rock formations and winding gravel roads test both rider and bike. As you move into the arid expanse of the Northern Cape, the vastness of the Great karoo stretches before you.
Crossing into Namibia, we visit the monumental Fish River Canyon, a stunning natural wonder, with bedrock in the bottom of the canyon older than 1.2 Billion years old. After the Canyon the route continues to Luderitz, with a visit to the Ghost Town of Kolmanskop.
The Tenere 700 handles the shifting sands and rocky paths that lead you to the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and the eerie Deadvlei, where ancient trees stand frozen in time. The route then flows north to the coastal town of Swakopmund, with its German colonial charm and the nearby Moon Landscape, a surreal, lunar-like desert expanse. Finally, after traversing more desert and gravel roads, the adventure culminates in Windhoek, where the urban pulse of Namibia's capital welcomes you after this awe-inspiring journey.

Riding Cape Town to Victoria Falls:
This fully supported tours is more of a soft overland tour, with several days of 100% asphalt. The distances are greater on some transit days as we cross 4 countries in a 4000km journey Northwards from Cape Town.
We experience the rugged gravel roads and twisted mountain passes of the Cederberg Mountains and the Northern Cape.
The route is easy gravel and mostly asphalt, and very passenger-friendly.
In addition to the Yamaha Tenere 700, on this particular tour, which we run annually with MSA Travel Africa, other bike brands like BMW 1300, 900 and Honda Africa Twin 1100 are available for rental if you want to ride with a passenger.
We understand the Tenere 700 is not the most comfortable bike for 2-up riding.
All of the gravel riding is in South Africa and Southern Namibia. From the midway point after Maltahohe in Namibia, its 100% asphalt to Windhoek, Botswana and Vic Falls. There are no gravel options in countries like Botswana, its asphalt or thick white sand.
We take a full rest day on the Okavango Delta in Maun, Botswana, for a safari on the water in traditional Mokoro canoes, and experience big game on the roads. This adventure is on the bucket list of African Overland Motorcycle expeditions.
